Madoff’s Operations Director Indicted

MANHATTAN (CN) - Federal prosecutors on Wednesday charged Bernie Madoff's former director of operations with conspiracy, securities fraud, falsifying records and tax fraud. Daniel Bonventre, 63, of New York, N.Y., faces up to 82 years in prison and millions of dollars in fines if convicted of all charges.

Bonventre was added to a superseding indictment against two of Madoff's computer programmers, Jerome O'Hara and George Perez.

The superseding indictment does not add any new charges against O'Hara or Perez.

Bonventre was director of operations for Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities.
