WASHINGTON (CN) - The Department of Health and Human Services has made it simpler for states to get federal funds toward the cost of computers for processing public assistance data, by reducing the amount of paperwork needed for "lower-risk" technology.
The same set of new rules also increases oversight for higher-risk information technology projects.
The department requires project plans and acquisition documents when states, counties and territories apply for federal funds for "automated data processing equipment and services" regarding support programs for children and families.
