LOS ANGELES — An appeals court in California ruled that a woman lacked standing to pursue a tort claim against a tissue-storage facility for the loss of her deceased husband’s sperm, which was extracted while he was in a coma. The donor’s intent controls the use of gametic material, and the woman did not prove that her husband wanted her to conceive a child with his sperm posthumously.
