Lost River Sucker Fish

WASHINGTON (CN) - The Lost River sucker fish and the shortnose sucker will stay on the endangered species list for now, according to a 90-day finding by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The agency has found that a petition by Mr. James Buchal on behalf of Klamath basin Farmers, to delist the fish does not present substantial scientific or commercial information indicating that removing them may be warranted.

The suckers, a large fish found in the Pacific Northwest, were placed on the endangered species list in 1988, but a proposal for their critical habitat was never finalized.

The agency asks the public to submit to it any new information that becomes available concerning the status of, or threats to, the Lost River and shortnose suckers or their habitat at any time.
