Rising high above the Pacific Ocean on a granite pedestal, the Lone Cypress may be one of the most photographed trees in the United States. The Monterey cypress may be as old as 250 years and has withstood wildfires, earthquakes and storms, albeit with the help of cables for the last 65 years.
