(CN) - A Los Angeles judge sent actress Lindsay Lohan back to jail on Friday after she failed a drug test while on probation for a drunk driving arrest. She will remain in custody until her next hearing on Oct. 22.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elden S. Fox refused to grant the troubled star bail, sending Lohan to jail for the third time since her 2007 arrest in a drug and DUI case.
Lohan admitted failing the court-ordered drug screening last week in a series of Twitter postings.
"Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result," she wrote.
"Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn't go away over night. I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps ... forward every day," she added. "I am testing every single day and doing what I must do to prevent any mishaps in the future."
She wrote: "This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I'm prepared to face the consequences."
