Limo Service Claims CBS Defamed It

PHILADELPHIA (CN) - A wedding and limo service claims CBS defamed it by accusing it of ducking $70,000 in highway tolls and fines. All Over Town Limousine & Formal Wear also claims CBS reporters trespassed to gather footage for its broadcasts.

The limo service claims its attorney warned CBS that its allegations were false and misleading after reporters visited the business on May 8, but CBS broadcast the report anyway on May 14, calling the business a "toll cheat" that owed more than $70,000 in unpaid tolls and violations, while showing background images of All Over Town's business and signs.

All Over Town, of Blackwood, N.J., says it never granted permission for CBS to show the images, and says it sent the broadcaster several cease and desist requests. But it says CBS3 aired a second piece on June 24, which not only portrayed All Over Town as a toll violator, but claimed that its owner, John Groff Sr. had been indicted for toll violations.

All Over Town seeks compensatory and punitive damages, alleging damage to its business and reputation. It is represented in the Court of Common Pleas by Peter Villari with Villari, Brandes & Kline of Conshohocken.
