Lil’ Wayne Pulled Diva Act

MANHATTAN (CN) - Hip-hop star Lil' Wayne (Dwayne Carter) was found passed out and unwilling to perform for his "Poppin' Bottles" concert in Nassau, Bahamas, the promoter says.

And this came after he postponed the show for a day, complaining about sound and lighting, according to the complaint in New York County Court.

Red City Entertainment claims it spent $432,000 producing the show, including $210,000 for Lil' Wayne and $33,000 for accommodation. But it says the star arrived late, complained about the lighting and sound, and postponed the concert until the next evening. Red City said it had to pay another $8,700 for another day of lodging for Wayne and his associates.

The next evening, Wayne failed to appear at the show and police were sent to his hotel room, where they found him "passed out and unwilling to perform," according to the complaint.

The show was canceled at 2:30 a.m. because of Lil' Wayne's failure to appear, and the rapper has not offered to reschedule it, Red City says.

Red City demands damages for its production costs, and $385,000 in lost ticket sales from the 5,500 fans who stood outside the concert gates waiting for Lil' Wayne to arrive.

It alleges breach of contract, fraud, conspiracy and conversion, and is represented by Glenn Gitomer with McCausland, Keen & Buckman.
