Life in Prison for Ordering Two Murders

MANHATTAN (CN) - The leader of a Chinese mafia was sentenced on Tuesday to life in prison for ordering the murder of two people in Toronto in 1994, to protect his heroin trafficking. Sui Min Ma aka Frank Ma aka Ma Gor sent a murder team that killed the wrong people.

Ma's "lieutenant," Bing Yi Chen aka Ah Ngai was sentenced in January to 35 years in prison, federal prosecutors said.

Ma, 55, agreed to kill his partner in Toronto as a "favor" for their Hong Kong drug source, prosecutors said, and assigned Chen, 42, to organize it, but Chen's team screwed up and killed two innocent office workers.

Ten years of investigation and prosecutions have produced 13 convictions of members of Ma's ring, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
