Life in Prison for Killing Border Patrolman

SAN DIEGO (CN) - After extradition, a Mexican man was sentenced to life in prison for murdering a Border Patrolman by running him down with a Hummer in Imperial County 3 years ago.

A federal jury convicted Jesus Navarro-Montes of second-degree murder and of conspiring to possess and distribute marijuana.

Navarro ran down Customs and Border Patrol Officer Luis Aguilar on Jan. 19, 2008 in the Imperial Sand Dunes recreation area.

Navarro was extradited from Mexico in January 2010.

His codefendants Macedonio Guerrero and Jorge Montes-Leyva have pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute marijuana. They await sentencing.
