Libel lawsuit

BEAUMONT, Texas — An appeals court in Texas upheld the denial of a newspaper’s request to dismiss a libel suit brought by an assistant district attorney after an article implied he was a prosecutor on Michael Morton, who was wrongfully convicted for his wife’s murder and exonerated. The attorney presented evidence he was first licensed as an attorney in 2002, and Morton was prosecuted in the 1980s.
