A woman claims Provident Christian Academy, of Lee Summit, knew its teacher Brent Barlow had been convicted of a sexual offense after it hired him, but retained him, allowing Barlow to have sex with and sodomize her in 1996, when she was 15 years old. She sued in Jackson County Court, Kansas City, Mo.

A policeman claims he was paralyzed while off duty when his 3-year-old son fired a Glock 21 pistol with a defective safety through the car seat, in Los Angeles Superior Court.
