Letter to the President

Dear, Mr. President

by Jimmy Byrd

Mrs. Schlosberg-Villareal's Third Grade

St. Anne School

Dear, President Obama, congratulations on being inogerated and becoming President. We watched it in school and it was cool and historic. I fell asleep for a little bit when all the other people were talking but the teacher clapped and I woke up.

She was very excited that you became President. She cried and told us that you will change the world and that our future will be golden. Then she made Gerald and Ashley and Vontae stand up because they are African-American like you and tell the class how it made them feel.

Gerald thinks you are good at Basketball.

I am glad you are our new President because all the people on TV say the country has a recession and my Granddad says that the world is going to hell in a handcart and when I grow up I will have to work for Chinese people and pray to the Koran.

He voted for John McCain and is upset that you won but not me.

I think you will be a great President. My Dad says there is no way you could screw things up worse than X-President Bush. He says that X-President Bush lied about Sodam Husain having destruction weapons in Iraq. But I haven't heard anything about the war there in awhile so I think it is going OK.

I like X-President Bush too because he is funny and today on TV he did not seem upset that you were President now and he had to go home to Texas and clear brush.

My Mom thought Mrs. Obama was really pretty today and that your daughters are pretty too. She voted for Hillary Clinton in the primary because she thought it would be nice to have a woman be President even Hillary Clinton.

Dad made fun of her when you won the primary but then she cried and Dad had to say he was sorry and by her flowers. She likes you now and is glad you are President.

Please do your best to do some things now that you are President. I think it will make the country better. Please stop the recession and don't let anymore people lose their jobs even the lazy auto workers.

My Dad says I will have to pay a lot of money when I grow up because of our debts today. Please make grown-ups pay the debts right now because I will need my money for cars and stuff. Please make Israel and Gaza stop fighting. Please get all the other countries to like us again.

Please don't let the Russians become really threatening because my Granddad met them on the Elbow River and he wanted to fight with them then because they are Commies. Also please legalize mariwana because my Grandma says it is the only thing that settles her bones.

Good luck!

Jimmy Byrd

P.S. I got a cupcake at the grocery store with your face on it and it was good.
