Law reporting not defamatory

CHICAGO — The former general counsel for real estate giant Cushman & Wakefield lost his defamation claims against Hugo Guzman, a legal reporter for Law.com. Guzman reported in April 2023 that the attorney left Cushman, that Cushman was involved in the New York civil fraud investigation into the Trump Organization, and that Cushman had been hit with a contempt ruling in 2022 for failure to timely respond to a subpoena. The article constituted neither defamation per se nor defamation per quod.
