Las Vegas Judge Tabbed for Federal Bench

(CN) LAS VEGAS - President Obama nominated Clark County Court Judge Elissa Cadish as the next U.S. District Court Judge for the District of Nevada.

Cadish, 47, was nominated for the judgeship vacated by U.S. District Judge Philip Pro, who took senior status late last year.

Kadish has been a judge in the 8th District Judicial Court of Nevada since 2007.

Cadish clerked for Judge Pro from 1989 to 1991 and worked in private practice with Hale Lane Peek Dennison & Howard from 1995 she took the bench in 2007.

She received her law degree in 1989 from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was a member of the Virginia Law Review.

The U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada is authorized seven judgeships and has two vacancies.
