LAPD Put ‘Pervert’ in Charge of Boys, One Says

LOS ANGELES (CN) - The Los Angeles police department employed a policeman involved with its Explorer program for kids even though he is "a pervert and pedophile" who "took the young boys to his home, got them drunk and raped them," one alleged victim claims in Superior Court.

The Doe plaintiff claims that George Stan's "activities were known to several high ranking members of the LAPD," including Deputy Chief Michael Berkow and Capt. Joseph Curreri.

Doe says that Berkow saw Stan taking him to Stan's home late at night "at a time when Berkow knew, or should have known, that Stan was molesting young boys, like the plaintiff. Although Berkow was on an official police stakeout, he knowingly, intentionally, recklessly and or negligently all the plaintiff to spend the night at Stan's home," where Stan sexually assaulted him.

Doe says he was in the LAPD Explorer program in 2004 and 2005, and was supervised by Stan, who was supervised by Berkow and Curreri.

Doe says Stan "regularly sent improper emails to boys under 18 years of age in various police department programs."

Stan has been convicted "for his felonious actions and is in prison," Doe says.

He seeks damages for sexual abuse and battery, negligence, hostile workplace, emotional distress and other charges. He is represented by Bradley Gage of Woodland Hills.
