BRUSSELS (CN) - Europe's second-highest court ruled that the French company Lafarge SA must pay 249.6 million euros, or $391 million, for trying to fix the price of plasterboard.
The Court of First Instance affirmed the fifth highest penalty imposed by EU regulators in a cartel case.
However, the court reduced the fine for Britain's BPB PLC to 118.8 million euros from 138.6 million euros, because the company had cooperated with regulators.
The court affirmed fines of 85.8 million euros ($134 million) against Knauf and 4.3 million euros ($6.7 million) against Gyproc.
