Labor Union Sues 2 San Diego Heavyweights

SAN DIEGO (CN) - In separate environmental complaints, Unite Here Local 30 sued the San Diego Port District, and the City of Coronado, challenging development plans at the port and the Hotel Coronado.

Both lawsuits are in Superior Court.

The labor union challenges the Port District's and Lane Field San Diego Developers' project at Harbor Drive and Broadway, across the street from San Diego Bay and the B Street Pier Cruise Ship Terminal.

The union also protests Coronado's approval of the Hotel Coronado's expansion, on environmental grounds. The union says it represents 800 workers at the hotel who will breathe dirtier air if the project happens.

The union is represented by Rory Wicks with the Coast Law Group of Encinitas in the Port District case. It is represented by Tanya Gulesserian with Adams Broadwell Joseph of South San Francisco in the Coronado case.
