LA Sheriff Won’t Run|Again, Newspaper Says

LOS ANGELES - A month after federal prosecutors charged 18 Los Angeles County deputies with abuses, Sheriff Lee Baca has decided to retire rather than run again, the L.A. Times reported today.

Baca, 71, refused to comment on the report.

The Times attributed the information to "sources," and said Baca would announce his retirement at a news conference today.
