La Jolla Attorney Going To Slammer

SAN DIEGO (CN) - La Jolla attorney Cameron Campbell on Friday was sentenced to 5 years and 3 months in prison and ordered to pay $4.5 million to more than 90 victims of his wire fraud conspiracy. Prosecutors said Campbell and his cohorts in The Brixton Group - Joseph Wayne McCool and Donald John Manning - ran a Ponzi scam that promised 10 percent returns a month, claimed that the investments were guaranteed by the State Bar of California, and concealed that McCool had just emerged from federal prison after serving time for wire fraud and conspiracy.
