SANTA ANA, Calif. (CN) - A 19-year-old Los Angeles man is due in court today to face federal charges of pimping girls online.
Curtis Maurice Canady is charged with two counts of child sex trafficking, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years, and up to life in prison. The victims were between the ages of 14 and 18, prosecutors said.
Canady was arrested on July 25, and charged in Orange County Superior Court with two counts of human trafficking with intent to pander, two counts of pandering a minor by procuring, and one count of attempted pimping. The Orange County district attorney on Tuesday agreed to transfer Canady to federal custody. He was to face a federal judge today.
