LOS ANGELES (CN) - A doctor who runs a clinic in Hollywood was charged Tuesday with defrauding Medicare of $22 million.
Robert A. Glazer, 67, was charged with conspiracy to commit health care fraud, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
He is charged with billing Medicare for $33.5 million for prescriptions and services that were not medically necessary, of which Medicare paid $22 million.
"Glazer's co-conspirators then sold the prescriptions and certifications to DME supply companies, home health agencies, and other providers, knowing that the prescriptions and certifications were fraudulent," the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a statement.
Glazer was arrested on May 13 and is free on $200,000 bond.
