L.A. County Accused In Jail-Cell Murder

LOS ANGELES (CN) - The County of Los Angeles and its Sheriff Lee Baca allowed nonviolent, low-risk prisoner Sean Anthony Thompson to be tortured and beaten to death in the Men's Central Jail, his family claims in Federal Court. Thompson, 38, was arrested on drug-possession charges after running a stop sign, and Baca allowed Latino gang members to beat him to death on Feb. 12, 2006, though the sheriff knew racial tensions in the jail could lead to this, the family says.
