L.A. Council Rebuffs|Hotel Industry on Wages

LOS ANGELES (CN) – The Los Angeles City Council on Wednesday voted to require the city’s biggest hotels to pay their workers at least $15.37 an hour, one of the highest minimum wages in the country.
Because the 12-3 vote was not unanimous, the Council will have to vote a second time next week.
Mayor Eric Garcetti has said he will sign the ordinance, which, not surprisingly, was opposed by the hotel industry and many business leaders.
