Kraft Recalls ‘Singles’|Over Choking Hazard

NORTHFIELD, Ill. (CN) - Kraft Heinz is expanding the voluntary recall of certain individually wrapped slices of American cheese because of a choking hazard with the wrapper.

The Food and Drug Administration said Kraft Heinz initiated the recall on July 31 because "a thin strip of the individual packaging film may remain adhered to the slice after the wrapper has been removed."

"If the film sticks to the slice and is not removed, it could potentially cause a choking hazard," the FDA said.

The original recall covered 3-pound and 4-pound sizes of "Kraft Singles American and White American pasteurized prepared cheese product with a 'Best When Used By' date of" Dec. 29, 2015, through Jan. 4, 2016, stamped with the manufacturing code of S54 or S55.
