RIVERSIDE, Calif. (CN) – Kenly Kiya Kato was sworn in Tuesday as a U.S. magistrate judge in California’s Central District, Eastern Division, in Riverside. Kato earned a B.A. from UCLA in 1993 and got her J.D. in 1996 from Harvard School of Law. She worked as a deputy federal public defender and then went into private practice.
