A federal judge in California ruled in favor of pop singer Katy Perry, finding that a part of Marcus Gray's rap song "Joyful Noise" was not unique enough to be protected by copyright. The ruling overturned a 2019 verdict in favor of Gray, which had found that Perry copied her song "Dark Horse" from the Christian rapper's work.
