Katrina Refugees Say Kentucky Contractor| Took Them For A Ride

LOUISVILLE (CN) - Laneh Prospect Land & Management Corp. screwed and tattooed a married couple who were refugees from Hurricane Katrina, Scott and Donyel Jackson claim in Jefferson County Court.

After Katrina blew them out of New Orleans, the Jacksons say, they contracted with Laneh and its owner, co-defendant Herbert Toler, both of Simpsonville, Ky., to build them a $175,000 home in Louisville. The Jacksons say Toler failed to build the home in a timely manner, which caused them to lose their federal grant for hurricane victims, and forced them to return to New Orleans. Then, they say, Toler sold their finally finished home to someone else for $249,000 and refused to return their deposit and other money they had given them to spend on the house.

They demand punitive damages for breach of contract. They are represented by Randy Perkins with Travis & Herbert. See complaint.
