Kaiser Coughs Up $3.75M to Uncle Sam

SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - Four Kaiser companies in California will pay $3.75 million to settle allegations of Medicare and Medicaid fraud, federal prosecutors said. The companies falsely claimed that teaching physicians were present when resident physicians provided medical services.

Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, The Permanente Medical Group and Southern California Permanente Medical Group will cough up the money for submitting false claims to Medicaid and Medicare.
