Juvenile sex offenders

BATON ROUGE, La. — A federal court in Louisiana sided against the state’s practice of requiring driver’s licenses issued to sex offenders who were adjudicated as juveniles to have the phrase “SEX OFFENDER” emblazoned on them in orange, a practice state officials say has been discontinued. The court bars Louisiana from enforcing both this law, as well as the state’s lifetime social media ban for sex offenders who committed their crimes as juveniles. Such offenders may apply for a waiver after 25 years.
