Just Go Away, One Attorney Tells Another

DALLAS (CN) - A married attorney claims in court that another lawyer, apparently obsessed with him, threatened to ruin his marriage and harassed him at work and home after he ended their relationship.

LDW sued CLD in Dallas County Court.

LDW, of Highland Park, seeks a temporary restraining order against CLD, of Dallas. He claims he met the unmarried defendant in 2010 in a professional work setting and became friends with the woman, who has a degree in engineering, a J.D., and is "tech savvy."

A year later, he claims, "LDW sought to amicably discontinue the relationship with CLD as it had become clear that CLD was expecting something more than friendship from LDW. LDW was not seeking more than what the relationship already had, and the continuation of the relationship was causing LDW extreme stress."

However, "In spite of LDW's efforts to end the relationship and to distance himself from CLD, CLD was unwilling to permit the relationship to end," the complaint states. "Instead, CLD advised LDW that CLD 'hoped' that they could remain friends and that LDW would refer CLD legal work so that CLD's fledgling solo law practice could survive."

LDW claims that he agreed to do so, and that even when the quality of CLD's legal work was substandard, he helped her keep her solo practice going.

He tried to "discontinue the relationship" again in 2012, but, (a)gain, CLD was unwilling to permit the relationship to end," he says in the complaint. It continues: "This time, however, LDW was unwilling to compromise, as [sic] CLD's behavior had become increasingly erratic and threatening since 2011. In December 2012 and January 2013, LDW stood firm in his resolve to terminate the relationship with CLD.

"When LDW advised CLD that he was terminating the relationship, CLD did not react well. Specifically, CLD threatened to ruin LDW's relationship with LDW's spouse; made repeated harassing telephone calls to LDW's cell-phone; made repeated harassing telephone calls to LDW's place of employment; sent harassing electronic correspondence to LDW; entered the grounds of LDW's residence and LDW's pool house without LDW's permission; misrepresented CLD's employment status in order to dupe security at LDW's place of employment and gain entry to LDW's place of employment; interrupting the regular course of business at LDW's place of employment; simulated electronic media in order to perpetrate a fraud or frauds upon LDW and his family; and, vexatiously committed and continues to commit and perpetrate other acts purposefully calculated to cause LDW pain and embarrassment.

"CLD's behavior and threatened rises to levels that would likely be prosecuted if referred to law enforcement."

He claims he has "repeatedly requested the CLD cease and desist in CLD's continuing illegal, harassing, injurious and spiteful course of action against LDW and his family," but that her "illegal, harassing, injurious and spiteful acts have continued, unabated, for several months."

He was CLD restrained from contacting or threatening him, his family, friends and coworkers.

He is represented by Jeffrey Hall of Dallas.
