Just a Darn Minute, AT&T

CHICAGO (CN) - A small business sued AT&T, claiming it switched telecom providers because AT&T offered to match Verizon's rates, but now AT&T may cut it off for failing to pay its December bill of $129,208.68 - which should have been $492.

Suburban Express, a bus service, sued AT&T in Cook County Chancery Court.

Suburban Express claims AT&T offered to match Verizon's rates in January 2013, so the bus company switched.

After 13 paragraphs describing pricing schedules, contracts and timelines, the lawsuit states: "Plaintiff received its December 2013 billing statement stating that the total amount due was $129.208.68.

"Plaintiff's correct monthly charge should be $492.00/month plus taxes."

Suburban Express says its business already has been hurt by the billing dispute, which came during one of the busiest times of the year, the Christmas holiday, and that AT&T refused to correct its bill, forcing the bus company to face "the possibility of defendant cutting off services for plaintiff's business."

This would cause it irreparable injury, Suburban Express says.

It claims it can't switch services because all its GPS devices are hardwired for AT&T only.

It seeks a declaratory judgment, a restraining order and injunction.

Suburban Express is represented by George Bellas with Bellas & Wachowski, of Park Ridge.
