MANHATTAN (CN) - A jury should decide whether the Guess retail chain knocked off Gucci's signature "G" on products, a federal judge ruled on Tuesday.
In 2009, Gucci filed a complaint stating, "In many instances, defendants have replicated entire Gucci product designs, to the point that there appears to be a concerted effort to 'Gucci-ize' defendants' product lines."
A jury will determine whether Guess tried to imitate Gucci's "Square G," "Script Gucci" and "GRG Stripe," U.S. District Judge Shira Scheindlin wrote.
One-sixth of the 50-page order includes pictures of allegedly infringing designs on shoes, belts, bags, wallets and other items.
Gucci wants about $26 million in damages.
A final pretrial conference is slated for March 13.
