BELLEVILLE, Ill. - Two St. Clair County judges - Jan Fiss and Patrick Young - were to face a judicial discipline board in Chicago today to answer questions about their involvement in a drunk-driving incident in December 2006.
Jan V. Fiss, 65, and Patrick M. Young, 59, went to a Belleville tavern after watching a Rams game in St. Louis. After they left, police say, Young's vehicle crossed the center line and hit a pickup truck.
The driver of the pickup suffered a broken leg and was airlifted to a hospital.
Police saw Fiss try to hide a beer can under his coat, the police report states.
Young was found guilty of driving under the influence. Fiss pleaded guilty to illegal transportation of alcohol and was fined $500.
The Judicial Inquiry Board filed a complaint against the two judges. The discipline board could suspend or remove Fiss and Young from the bench.
