SANFORD, Fla. (CN) - George Zimmerman, who shot to death Trayvon Martin, must remain in Seminole County and keep wearing a GPS monitoring device, a state judge ruled.
Zimmerman, a Neighborhood Watch volunteer who killed the unarmed teen-ager in February and claims self defense under Florida's so-called "Stand Your Ground" law, is charged with second-degree murder.
Zimmerman's attorney Mark O'Mara asked the Seminole County Court for permission for his client to move freely around Florida. O'Mara claimed that Zimmerman is in danger and has received several threats.
But prosecutors reminded Judge Debra Nelson that Zimmerman has lied about his ability to post bond.
Nelson on Tuesday denied O'Mara's request.
Zimmerman's trial is set for June 10. The next hearing in the case is set for early January.
