Judge Rejects Polanski’s Bid to Dismiss Sex Case

(CN) - A Los Angeles judge on Thursday rejected fugitive director Roman Polanski's bid to have sex charges against him dismissed due to prosecutorial misconduct. Superior Court Judge Peter Espinoza said he could not consider the case without the courtroom presence of Polanski, who fled to France in the 1970s after pleading guilty to raping a 13-year-old girl.

Polanski directed the hit movies "Rosemary's Baby" and "Chinatown." He won an best director Oscar for the 2002 Holocaust movie "The Pianist."
