Judge Protects Whales From The Navy

LOS ANGELES (CN) - A federal judge on Thursday imposed the toughest whale-protection restrictions yet upon the U.S. Navy, ordering it to stop using its powerful mid-range sonar within 12 miles of the Southern California coast. U.S. District Judge Florence-Marie Cooper said the sub-hunting technology can harm gray whales, dolphins and other marine mammals that use the coastal corridor to migrate. Seeorder.
