LAS VEGAS (CN) - Embattled Judge Elizabeth Halverson's husband is expected to discuss bail today on charges of beating his wife with a frying pan. Judge Halverson remained hospitalized Tuesday, after surgery for skull fractures. Police said her injuries were not life-threatening.
Justice Court Judge Karen Bennett-Haron on Tuesday ordered Edward Halverson to remain behind bars, then handed the case to Chief Judge Douglas Smith, to avoid a potential conflict of interest.
Smith may pass it on to a visiting judge from Northern Nevada, with no ties to Judge Halverson, according to media reports.
Elizabeth Halverson was suspended in July 2007, and recently underwent a weeklong hearing that questioned her ethics in and out of the courtroom.
