(CN) - A federal judge in Chicago ordered telemarketers to stop making deceptive robocalls telling consumers their auto warranties are about to expire and pitching. It was one of at least four lawsuits filed nationwide last week after telemarketers pitched their alleged warranties to a congressman - one of more than 1 billion such calls made, prosecutors said.
Indiana filed a fifth such complaint late last week, against Transcontinental Warranty fka Transamerican Warranty, and Christopher Cowart, in Marion County Court, Indianapolis.
The temporary injunction in Chicago was issued against Voice Touch and its principals James and Maureen Dunne, its business partner Network Foundations and that company's principal Damian Kohlfeld, the FTC said.
