‘Jihad Jane’ Cohort Pleads Guilty to Terror Charges

(CN) - A Colorado woman who sought military-style training and traveled through Europe to support violent jihad pleaded guilty Tuesday in Philadelphia's District Court to conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists.

Jamie Paulin Ramirez is a co-defendant of Colleen LaRose, aka "Jihad Jane," who pleaded guilty to related charges in the same court last month.

After an e-mail exchange in 2009, LaRose invited Ramirez to Europe where there was a military-style training camp. Ramirez traveled to Ireland with her minor son in September of that year, and married an unnamed co-conspirator whom she had never met in person. Authorities say the couple married to further the conspiracy.

The co-conspirator who married Ramirez said in an e-mail that he was structuring an organization with teams for planning, research, action, recruitment and finance. "[T]he job is to [k]nock down some individual[s] that are harming Islam," he wrote.

Ramirez faces up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when sentenced. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams and trial attorney Matthew Blue led the prosecution.
