Jeff Koons dodges copyright suit

MANHATTAN — A federal court in New York dismissed the copyright claims brought by sculpture artist Michael Hayden against pop artist Jeff Koons over the latter’s “Made in Heaven” billboard artworks. Koons’ depicted models on a set that included an original Hayden sculpture, which a decade earlier had been sold to the owner of the studio where Koons’ photoshoot was done. Because the sculpture was sold three decades before Hayden allegedly learned of the potential infringement, his claims are time-barred.
