Jazz artist loses defamation suit

MANHATTAN — The Second Circuit affirmed a New York federal court’s dismissal of prominent jazz saxophonist Steven Douglas Coleman’s defamation lawsuit against a former student who accused him of sexual harassment. The jazz artist only challenged non-actionable statements of opinion that the accuser put in a letter to friends and colleagues during the #MeToo movement.
