Jail time for divorcée in contempt

BATON ROUGE, La. — An appeals court in Louisiana affirmed a civil judgment finding a divorced mother of two children failed to comply with the terms of a contempt ruling; she is ordered to serve jail time, pay child support, pay thousands of dollars in attorney fees and fines and her ex-husband was awarded $2,000 for his defense against her appeal. She made “defamatory and untrue” statements about the court, court staff and her own ex-husband on social media, resulting in a 20-day sentence in parish prison, contingent upon compliance with the contempt judgment.
