Jail Medical Service Sued In Death

ST. LOUIS (CN) - Correctional Medical Services failed to get medical treatment for a prisoner who died from an asthma attack, his mother claims in city court.

Annie Kimble says her daughter LaVonda Kimble died in April 2007 while being held in the Criminal Justice Center.

Kimble says Correctional Medical Services failed to properly evaluate her daughter's condition; incorrectly determined that she was fit for confinement; failed to provide her with proper medications for acute asthma; failed to transfer her to an emergency room; failed to properly train employees on how to treat acute asthma attacks; and failed to use an AED device on her. Kimble also sued on behalf of her minor grandson. She is represented by John Wallach.
