Jackson’s Mother Gets Custody of the Children

(CN) - Michael Jackson's mother was awarded custody of the late pop star's three children in a hearing that also addressed the administration of Jackson's estate.

Judge Mitchell Beckloff of Los Angeles Superior Court also granted Katherine Jackson and her grandchildren - Prince Michael Jr., Paris Michael Katherine and Prince Michael II, known as "Blanket" - a maintenance allowance based on what they received before Michael Jackson died of a massive heart attack on June 25.

Last month, Beckloff appointed former Jackson lawyer John Branca and music industry executive John McClain as the temporary administrators of the iconic singer's estate.

In his 2002 will, Michael Jackson named Branca and McClain as the executors of his estate. He also stated that custody of his children should go to his mother, Katherine, or to singer and longtime friend Diana Ross.

Beckloff ruled Monday that the administrators have to provide Katherine with details of Michael's contracts with AEG Live, Columbia Pictures and Bravado Entertainment, provided she keeps the information confidential.

Jackson's estate, which includes part of the Beatles catalog, is reportedly worth between $500 million and $2 billion.
