DALLAS (CN) - An IRS employee pleaded guilty to taking a bribe. Fernando Hernandez, 33, of Dallas, admitted that in June 2005 he took $2,000 in cash and promised a taxpayer that the IRS would not audit the taxpayer's return.

Hernandez was arrested at the Dallas IRS office on Oct. 9, 2009, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a statement. He was charged with one felony count of receiving a bribe as a public official. He was released on a personal recognizance bond.

Hernandez faces a maximum statutory sentence of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. He is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sam Lindsay on March 29.
