Insurer Sues PCA Over Peanut Recalls

LYNCHBURG, Va. (CN) - Hartford Insurance sued the Peanut Corp. of America, asking the Federal Court to determine the insurer's obligations for the salmonella poisonings attributed to PCA-supplied peanut butter. Citing recent personal injury cases filed in Georgia and Minnesota - one of them fatal - and anticipating more such claims in light of PCA's two nationwide recalls, Hartford says it expects more claims against PCA for injury, sickness or death.
