Safeway Insurance improperly denies claims for damages done to stolen cars that are recovered, a class action claims in Cook County Court. Similar class actions were filed against six other insurers. Click "Insurance" header to see them.

Also facing class actions are American Service Insurance, American Access Casualty Co., United Automobile Insurance Co., Universal Casualty Co., Apollo Casualty Co., and Interstate Bankers Casualty Co.

Indemnity Insurance Co. of North America sued DRD Towing and others in New Orleans Federal Court, seeking declaratory relief for millions of dollars in damages caused by the July 23 barge-tanker collision that spilled thousands of gallons of fuel oil into the Mississippi River.
