Inmate Faces New Charges for Threatening Obama

(CN) - Prosecutors indicted on Tuesday a Maryland inmate who threatened a federal judge and sent a letter to President Obama, stating, "I just hope Allah grants me the opportunity to be the one who chops off your head."

Willie Ray Bryant, 40, is reportedly serving a 40-year sentence for his role in a string of Maryland robberies.

This week's indictment, filed in Maryland federal court, charges Bryant with mailing threatening communications and threats against the president.

Prosecutors say Bryant mailed U.S. District Judge William Quarles Jr. a letter on Sept. 11, 2010, "containing a threat to injure him with a mailed explosive device." Quarles is a judge on the Maryland federal court.

A month later, Bryant mailed a threatening letter to Obama, according to the two-page indictment.

Prosecutors say Bryant wrote: "I just hope Allah grants me the opportunity to be the one who chops off your head," "die die die!!!" and "If I ever ever (sic) get out I promise you I'm coming after you."
