EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (CN) - CDW-Government, an info tech company, will pay $5.66 million to settle a whistleblower lawsuit, federal prosecutors said.
Former employee Joe Liotine sued the Chicago-based company claiming that it sold products from China and other countries prohibited under the Trade Agreements Act, from 1999 to 2011, and that it underreported sales to avoid a government fee and improperly charged government purchasers for shipping.
Liotine, who worked for CDW from 1997 to 2001, will get $1.3 million of the settlement.
CDW provides information technology for government and businesses, according to the company website.
